What moves the price of a painted portrait
Three things, mostly. The medium: an oil painting costs more than acrylic, which costs more than watercolour, with digital files cheapest of all — many of the $10–30 listings on craft marketplaces are digital downloads, not paintings at all. The size and the number of pets: a large canvas or a second animal can add half again the price. And the extras: ready-made frames add $10–25, custom framing $100 or more, shipping $7–25, and rush work 25–50% on top where a shop offers it.
If someone quotes you a hand-painted portrait for very little and delivered in days, read the listing carefully — it is usually a printed or digital file, and there is nothing wrong with that, but it is not the same thing you are paying for.
